    Fuzzy system model for gene expression

    Background: The theoretical information of a gene is contained in cell’s genetic materials, namely, DNA, mRNA and proteins. In the synthesis of functional gene products, this information can be expressed in mathematical way.Aim: In this paper, a fuzzy approach is used to analyse of the behaviour of a gene expression in a cell. The main aim of the present study is to unravel the complexity of gene expression and develop the mathematical model which can be used for better insight of functional gene products.Subjects and methods: The model for gene expression is obtained in terms of the system of fuzzy differential equations assuming that the transcription and translation processes are taking place in the cell. The Michaelis–Menten’s mechanism is incorporated in the model.Results: The analytic solution for crisp case as well as for fuzzy case is carried out. The sensitivity analysis is also performed and it is observed that the model is highly stable.Conclusion: The model for gene expression is obtained in terms of system of differential equations involving fuzzy initial values using geometric approach. The numerical results have been obtained for TJK16 strain of E.coli. The semi temporal concentrations profile of DNA, mRNA and protein are obtained and sensitivity analysis has been performed to study the variation in concentrations of DNA, mRNA and protein with respect to variation in transcription and translation rates.Keyword: Fuzzy Linear Differential equation model, DNA, mRNA, Protein, TJK1

    Ancient literature mentions the use of a number of plants/preparations for fertility regulation. Some local contraceptive agents have also been described in Ayurvedic and Unani texts. Documented experiments or clinical data are, however, lacking. Therefore, the present study was undertaken to explore the antifertility and estrogenic activity of ethanolic extract of the roots of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis Linn. A strong anti-implantation (inhibition 100%) and uterotropic activity was observed at the dose level of 400 mg/kg body weight. Histological studies were carried out to confirm this effect

Further, third generation cellular networks are expected to provide mobile users with ubiquitous wireless access to a global backbone architecture that carries a wide variety of electronic services. We examine the topic of power control and models that arc suitable for modem third generation wireless networks. CDMA technology is proving to be a promising and attractive approach for spectrally efficient, economical and high quality digital communications wireless networks. This thesis addresses the challenge of integrating heterogeneous transmitting sources with a broad range of Quality of Service characteristics in the cellular COMA networks. Provided the right power control can be devised, COMA offers the potential of extracting gain from the statistical multiplexing of such sources. A distributed power control algorithm is proposed which is required to update the transmitted power of the mobiles in each of the service classes locally. and enhance the performance of the system significantly. Algorithms for pragmatic issues like power level quantization and truncation of power are derived and incorporated into the proposed distributed power control algorithm

    Antiulcer Potential of the Ethanolic Extract of Aerva Persica Merrill Root in Rats

    AbstractThe ethanol extract of the roots of Aerva persica (Burm f) Merrill (Amaranthaceae) was investigated to determine its antiulcer and in vivo antioxidant activities in albino Wistar rats. Ulcers were induced by ethanol and pylorus ligation. The extract was administered at the dose of 200mg/kg orally, p.o. for 15 consecutive days. The ulcer index of the ethanol extract was found to be significantly reduced compared with control animals. The effect was also assessed by determining the free acidity, pepsin activity, total carbohydrate (TC), and protein content (PK) in control, standard, and test group animals. The in vivo antioxidant activity was evaluated by determining the reduced glutathione level (GSH) and malondialdehyde (MDA) level in the tissue homogenates. The results reveal the significant reduction in the level of malondialdehyde and the increase in the level of reduced glutathione in the rats that received the ethanolic extract. Furthermore, histopathological studies have shown that pretreatment with the ethanolic extract of the roots of A persica reduces (100%) ethanol- and pylorus ligation-induced hemorrhagic necrosis in rats

    Central Glucagon-like Peptide-1 Receptor Signaling via Brainstem Catecholamine Neurons Counteracts Hypertension in Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats

    Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonists, widely used to treat type 2 diabetes, reduce blood pressure (BP) in hypertensive patients. Whether this action involves central mechanisms is unknown. We here report that repeated lateral ventricular (LV) injection of GLP-1R agonist, liraglutide, once daily for 15 days counteracted the development of hypertension in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). In parallel, it suppressed urinary norepinephrine excretion, and induced c-Fos expressions in the area postrema (AP) and nucleus tractus solitarius (NTS) of brainstem including the NTS neurons immunoreactive to dopamine beta-hydroxylase (DBH). Acute administration of liraglutide into fourth ventricle, the area with easy access to the AP and NTS, transiently decreased BP in SHR and this effect was attenuated after lesion of NTS DBH neurons with anti-DBH conjugated to saporin (anti-DBH-SAP). In anti-DBH-SAP injected SHR, the antihypertensive effect of repeated LV injection of liraglutide for 14 days was also attenuated. These findings demonstrate that the central GLP-1R signaling via NTS DBH neurons counteracts the development of hypertension in SHR, accompanied by attenuated sympathetic nerve activity
